Just love not having a denture

£0.00

Patient Background:

  • The patient traveled a considerable distance, over an hour for each visit, to seek treatment.

Patient Concerns:

  • The patient had two upper front teeth missing for over 20 years, which had initially been restored with a 4-unit bridge.

  • A head injury, caused by one of the dogs she looked after as part of her charity work for disabled individuals, resulted in a fractured retainer tooth of the bridge, necessitating the entire bridge's extraction.

Treatment:

  • After the extraction of the bridge, an immediate denture was provided as a temporary solution while allowing time for bone shrinkage and healing. This step was crucial to create space for future implant placement and restoration.

  • Following approximately 12 months of waiting and bone healing, implants were placed by the skilled surgeon, Dr. Sam Mohammed. The case involved some challenges due to thin bone, requiring precise implant placement.

  • The patient expressed a desire for very natural-looking teeth, similar to her previous bridge.

Outcome:

  • The final results showed a significant transformation, and the patient was thrilled with the outcome.

  • The patient, who initially had reservations about wearing dentures, was extremely grateful for the transition from dentures to an implant-supported bridge.

  • The achievement of a 'horrid denture'-free smile was particularly gratifying for the patient.

This case highlights the dedication of both the patient and the dental team in addressing a complex dental issue. Despite the challenges posed by the head injury and the need for implant placement in thin bone, the patient's satisfaction with the outcome was highly rewarding.
