No More Fixodent!

£0.00

Patient Background:

  • The patient was experiencing issues with a loose upper denture.

  • A CBCT scan revealed insufficient bone for a full arch implant bridge.

  • The patient sought a solution to improve the stability and retention of the upper denture.

Treatment:

  • To address the patient's concerns, a treatment plan was devised.

  • The compromise involved the placement of an implant-supported upper denture and a lower chrome (metal) partial denture.

  • Careful planning was undertaken using the patient's current denture to determine the precise positions for implant placement.

  • Four implants were placed in the upper jaw with great precision, requiring very parallel placement to ensure adequate retention.

  • The denture was meticulously designed to achieve a more youthful and natural smile while retaining the lip protrusion the patient had been accustomed to for many years.

  • Locator abutments with male and female components were utilized to provide stability, retention, and support for the upper denture.

Outcome:

  • The treatment resulted in a significant improvement in the patient's upper denture stability and retention.

  • Both the patient and the dental team were extremely pleased with the outcome.

This case demonstrates the successful use of implant-supported dentures to address the challenges of a loose upper denture. The meticulous planning and precise implant placement, along with careful denture design, contributed to a more stable and aesthetically pleasing solution.
